Wordle Fun!

Have you heard of Wordle - Beautiful Word Clouds? If you are like me you had not. My cousin learned about it in one of her college courses. Thank goodness for higher education, right?! Don't get too up in arms, it was in a marriage and family course and completely relevant. America will only be in trouble when crafting reaches Chemistry class ... or will it, hmmm???

Here's the jist, you click create, type a bunch of words or paste a blog URL etc.. The more times you type the word the larger it will appear. For example, I typed LAMB 6 times, FAMILY 4 times...you get it, right?!
From there you can change the layout, color scheme, font. I you are not feeling creative or just can't decide you can click the randomize button at the bottom.

I took the year my parents were married, their last name, and then the first name of each member of our current family (parentals, bros, s-i-l, and grandkids).

Be sure to save your file as a pdf if you want to print it later. You can direct print using the print icon found at the bottom of the Wordle create page. If you do not it will be lost in internet land forever. The Wordle site does not have a search function.

Here's my fun little creation...(pardon the sad screenshot the html image code translates small and blurry).

Honored.

I was so excited to attend my cousin's baby blessing a couple of weeks ago, her little Zoee is such a sweet little angel. I was honored to be the amateur photographer. I determined to take a photography class before I die (overflowing Bucket List).  Here are a couple of my favorite shots.

I just love this "getting ready" shot.

I know Zoee looks a little bored...but how cute are her mom and dad?

Look at that happy little face!

Thanks guys for allow me to spend a little time getting to know little Zoee.

Quick Fabric Centerpieces - Tutorial

I wanted to add some color to the tables at an upcoming event, so I made these quick centerpieces. My centerpieces will be for a 60 inch round table.

Materials:
-7/8 of a yard of fabric per table
-pinking blade for a rotary cutter
-cutting mat

step
Cut each fabric piece into a 28 x 28 inch square using a rotary cutter with a pinking blade (cutting all 4 sides) . I bought my pinking blade at JoAnn's Fabrics, it is also available here on Amazon.

This will give you a zigzag edge.

step 2
Fold and hang your pieces on a clothes hanger. Create a label with the number of centerpieces, color, etc.

Now wasn't that easy????

T-Shirt Baby Bibs

Remember my friend Ashleigh and our craft/sew/project night? We made these cute baby bibs from this tutorial  from Michelle over at A Little Tipsy . I think they turned out darling. Ashleigh made them as gifts for girlfriends she had raced out of the race t-shirt. So cute, right?! I made some out my old t-shirts, so they are little more on the girly side, but still cute.

Adjustments to the tutorial:
-make your stencil out of a clear file folder like these. This allows you to see your graphic tee so you can capture the portion you want.
-cut your straps out separately, this made the neckline smoother.
-cut off the actual collar (unless you are making the version out of button-up shirts. we didn't make any of those).

Delicious Eats

I recently discovered this site http://skinnytaste.com...ummm....all I can say is DELICIOUS! So far I have tried 4 of Gina's recipes. each one super yummy. I love that the recipes are lower calorie  yet still please the non-dieters( honestly, who are these people?!). Gina's recipes also have a ww pts (ww is weight watcher for all you naturally skinny's out there), trust me, this great when you are living the plan. Two of my favorite dishes so far are the Buffalo Chicken Wraps and the Asian Glazed Chicken. Gina's crock pot dishes are great for Sundays, pop everything in the AM and by the time I get home church, tada dinner is ready!

Mmmm...go make yourself something yummy!

Recipe Holder: Tutorial

Okay, so I hate having things on my kitchen countertops. Drives me bananas! However, recently I have been trying to cook more at home, which means recipe printouts on my counter. This BUGS me. So I decided to make a hidden home for the recipes I will be trying during the week.

Here's what I came up with....

I love it! Neatly tucked away in the cabinet!

My friend Ashleigh and I have started a weekly craft night (Ash, we need to come up with a catchy title?!). This week we made these fun coasters. They were simple, easy, and turned out really cute.

Here's the tutorial.
