Exploring Downtown
On Saturday I decided to go exploring with my camera in downtown Phoenix. I drive to and from downtown Phoenix a couple of times a week for classes and every time I think I should come back with my camera. Downtown is this interesting mix of new, old, revitalized and artsy. I love that there is still a lot of original architecture In Arizona this is a BIG deal. Most of the housing is Frank Lloyd Wright, mid 70's flat, adobe textured. Don't get me wrong, there is beauty in Arizona. I am just lover of detail, brick, and scale. I love when a building has a visual history, a story to tell.
I am in love.

Flea Market - Yay!
This past weekend I took Molly and my camera and set out for an adventure of exploring in downtown Phoenix. I had a great time walking the city streets, taking in the detail of what is downtown. Downtown has such personality. What's not to love?! During my exploration I stumbled across a flea market at greenHAUS gallery. I loved the antique and eclectic items , a true flea market. Here are some of the fun pics.
I hope greenHAUS has another flea market soon!

Engagement Photos
I had the opportunity to take engagement photos for my little brother. I had a great time with these two. I am so happy they will be making it official!
Our little audience. |
His favorite. |
One of my favs. Maybe not the best for a announcement...but I love the filtered light and the spots from the light...its a happy accident. |
One of her favs. I agree. At the end of the day the most important thing is who walked the "path" with us and the impact we left behind. |
I think both their eyes look so amazing in this one. There are many, many more to choose from, I am not sure which they will use. I would hate to ruin their surprise. |

Arizona Aloha Festival 2013
I had a chance to go to the AZ Aloha Festival with a group of friends this weekend. I took my camera with in hopes of getting some fun shots. I love all the vivid colors of the Polynesian culture.
The festival was filled with vendors selling various cultural items. If you have ever been to Hawaii it is similar to the large swap meet pavilions they have, just on a smaller scale.
There were two stages of dancers. They were amazing.
This random little dog loved my boots and decided to call them home. I loved this giant rotisserie of spinning chicken. That there folks, is a dude wearing a pink wig on stage. Yep. Pink wig. It was too funny.
Oh! And it smelled AMAZING! I purchased some these delicious noodles on the way out. They tasted delightful.
You may recall my obsession with Rhett the Rooster...I think Rhett would feel intimidated by the size of this guy. He was huge! I loved him nonetheless. I wonder if Rhett is still there. Hmmm...
Overall it was a fun adventure.
Aloha!

DYI - Quick Chevron Rug
A while back I really wanted a new rug for in my kitchen....but I am attempting a life as a girl on a budget. Lame, right? Anywho. I remembered I had some old rag rugs in the closet. I created this beauty with mod podge and fine glitter. I think it turned out really cute. I love it.
step 1
tape off pattern on rug using painters tape.
step 2
mix 3 parts mod podge, 1 part fine glitter, 1/2 water.
step 3
using a paintbrush paint the exposed parts of the rug. let first coat dry. repeat with a second coat for more solid coverage. (cover your mod podge mixture in a ziploc to keep it moist)
step 4
once the mod podge is completely dry, remove the tape.
